A Tribute to the late Tony Wong, IFDAT Founding Board Member

A Tribute to the late Tony Wong, IFDAT Founding Board Member

Attendee at IFDAT conferences, from our first conference in Barcelona in 2010 to the present day, will hold fond memories of Dr Anthony Wong. Tony passed away from cardiac arrest on Friday 15 January 2021.

Tony was a Medical Review Officer and Toxicologist of international renown and ran his laboratory,  Maxilab Diagnoticos Ltda., as well as holding directorships with Instituto da Crianca Hospital das Clinicas and  the Brazilian Institute of Toxicological and Pharmacological Studies.

Tony was also a founding and, until his untimely death, a current board member of IFDAT representing the South American Countries. As such he could be relied on to assist and contribute greatly to both the promotion and expansion of the IFDAT community and the organisation and flow of the annual conferences. His enthusiasm, panache and great depth of knowledge will be sorely missed.

R.I.P. Tony.

HOTEL BOOKING

IFDAT have negotiated special discounted rates for hotel rooms. The nearest (“host”) hotel is at “The Westin Tampa Waterside” and is only 5 minutes walking distance from the IFDAT2024 venue. The second hotel is at the “Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown” and is 10 minutes walking distance from the IFDAT2024 venue.

We have negotiated these discounted rates for the dates of the conference AND for dates either side. Any additional days will be at the hotel’s standard rates. Room availability is limited and allocated on a “first come – first served” basis. If all rooms have been allocated, or your budget differs, then you will find many other good quality hotels in the area, with great transport links to the IFDAT2024 venue – the Tampa Convention Center.

PLEASE NOTE: The booking(s) is a contract between you and the hotel(s) directly and IFDAT cannot take any responsibility for any part of that contract. Please ensure you therefore read and understand the hotel’s Terms and Conditions of booking – including cancellation policy.

Thank you for visiting the IFDAT website.

We would like to assure our fantastic international IFDAT community that the IFDAT conference will be back in 2026.

We have had lots of emails and messages from so many people across the globe (including past Sponsors, Speakers and Delegates) asking us when the next IFDAT Conference will be and where.

Firstly, thank you to everyone for your support. In 2025 we have decided to support 3 organisations that have always supported IFDAT.

National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association  – conference in Jacksonville Florida in April 2025

European Workplace Drug Testing Society (EWDTS)  – conference in Barcelona Spain in April 2025

SAPAA (Substance Abuse Program Administrators Association) – conference in Phoenix Arizona in October 2025

Our decision not to hold an IFDAT conference in 2025 was to take a little pressure off speakers’, delegates’ and sponsors’ budgets. We know this has been appreciated by many and hopefully adds to the success of the 3 conferences above – where IFDAT will be in full support and attendance.

So, IFDAT conference will be back in 2026 and we will have our usual high quality program aimed at bringing together discussion, innovation and best practice from the Drugs and Alcohol testing industry leaders and experts from across the globe.

When and where…?

We will announce the dates and location later in 2025. So make sure you follow IFDAT (on LinkedIn) and sign up for our newsletter (via the website) to ensure you are one of the first to know!

In the meantime – we will see you at a conference soon!

Thank you for your support from all of the IFDAT team!

Unfortunately, we are unable to display the brochure or program from this year. Apologies for any inconvenience.
